David Drumm is expected to tell a US court later that he wants to return to Ireland.
The former Anglo boss will appear before a judge in Boston today - he won't fight his extradition from the States - but he wants the DPP to grant him bail on his return to Ireland.
Mr Drumm is facing 33 criminal charges in this country relating to the collapse of Anglo Irish Bank.
And has offered to stick to strict bail conditions while he awaits trial.
