David Drumm is reported to have fired his legal team and will represent himself in a bankruptcy appeal in the US.
The former Anglo boss - who is due to be extradited to Ireland - is seeking the strike down of a decision to deny him bankruptcy there.
The development is not expected to any bearing on his return to Ireland.
Mr Drumm is currently being held at a maxium security prison in Massachusetts.
