€25 million in government funding has been announced to help live gigs and festivals return this year.

Electric Picnic and Body and Soul are among the festivals to get funding and will be able to avail of €423,000 each.

Money has also been set aside for Sea Sessions and PaircLife by Indiependence.

Money is being provided to hold events at the Olympia, the Gaiety and Bord Gais theatres in Dublin.

Elsewhere in the country, Roisin Dubh in Galway has been allocated €182,000, with the same amount going to Langton's in Kilkenny and Dolan's of Limerick.

The Live Performance Support Scheme aims to provide money for live events to take place even with reduced attendances.
