An entertainer accused of sexually assaulting a young man has indicated his intention to plead not guilty to the charge.

It’s alleged to have happened in Dublin in 2016.

A judge at Dublin District Court has deferred a decision on whether to lift an order preventing the media from naming the accused man.

When the case first came before Dublin District Court in August, a gagging order was put in place by Judge John O’Leary preventing the media from identifying the accused man.

That was challenged by a number of media outlets today.

A different judge, Judge John Hughes, was told he’s not entitled to anonymity but concerns were raised about the publication of certain details about the allegation itself, which Gardaí and his solicitor believe could lead to the identification of the complainant – which is protected by law.

Judge Hughes decided to defer his decision on the matter until the alleged victim is consulted and the case will return to his court on November 27th.
