The government is set to defeat a Sinn Féin motion calling for the eviction ban to be extended.
Sinn Féin says Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien will be remembered as a minister who deliberately increased homelessness.
Minister O'Brien, says the decision to end the ban wasn't easy, but it was the right one.
Last night, the Dáil debated a motion calling for the no-fault evictions ban to be extended beyond the end of this month to January of next year.
The motion will be voted on this afternoon but the government is on course to win, after securing the support of the Regional Independents group in return for eight amendments.
