A man who was caught with a loaded gun on his way to avenge his son’s gangland execution has been jailed for six years.

47-year-old Stephen Little, from Kilbarron Avenue in Dublin, had been under Garda surveillance when he was stopped last September.

Stephen Little’s son, Sean, was shot dead four months before his father was stopped by gardaí. He was killed as part of an ongoing gangland feud in Coolock.

His father, and another man, 56-year-old Edward McDonnell from Waterside Apartments in New Ross, Co. Wexford were pulled over on September 14th last year.

Gardaí seized a loaded gun, balaclavas, baseball hats, phones, gloves and a can of petrol from the car.

Following his arrest, Little asked gardaí why they didn’t leave him for another hour. If they had, he told them he would have killed the man responsible for his son’s death.

He was jailed for six years today, while McDonnell was handed a nine-year prison sentence.
