Four Dáil By-Elections To Take Place On November 29th

The writs have been moved for four Dáil by-elections.

People will go to the polls on November 29th in Dublin Mid-West, Dublin Fingal, Cork North Central and Wexford.

They'll choose who will replace Clare Daly, Frances Fitzgerald, Billy Kelleher and Mick Wallace - all four of whom were TDs before being elected as MEPs in May.

Our political correspondent Sean Defoe has been looking at the situation for the parties ahead of the vote later this month:

You could credibly argue that Fianna Fáil are the favourites in three of the four by election constituencies - Cork North Central, Wexford and Dublin Fingal.

Fine Gael will be happy if they just take one seat, replacing the one they have lost as a result of Frances Fitzgerald being elected as an MEP.

The Green Party has never won a by-election, but is hoping to buck the trend this time after strong local and European elections.

Labour could cause an upset in Fingal, while many candidates will just try to lay the groundwork for the general election - which is now not too far away.
