Gardaí say every effort is being made to protect the people of Drogheda, after a man was shot dead yesterday afternoon.

Keith Brannigan died after he was shot a number of times outside a mobile home in Clogherhead.

It happened at a caravan park in the seaside village of Clogherhead shortly before three o'clock.

Keith Brannigan was shot a number of times as he worked on the decking of a mobile home at the front of the caravan park.

The 29 year old is the first fatality in the ongoing gang feud in Drogheda.

The victim is said to be a close associate of a leading gang figure.

Gardaí have logged over 90 incidents relating to the feud to date, including 2 attempted murders and a number of petrol bomb attacks.

The gunman left the scene in a 05 red Lexus which was later found burnt out in Dunleer.
