Gardai Believe Westmeath Car Fire Caused By Arson Attack

Gardai believe an arson attack led to the deaths of two children in a car fire in Co Westmeath.

Two-year-old Michael, and five-year-old Thelma were in the vehicle with their mother, Lynn Egar, during the incident on Friday afternoon.

The boy and girl lost their lives in the incident in Multyfarnham, while their mother, who's aged in her 40s remains, in hospital in Dublin after being seriously injured.

The two children were remembered at a local vigil on Sunday evening.

Gardai have launched a criminal inquiry into the incident.
