Gardai will soon be able to seize scramblers and quad bikes, due to new measures announced by the government today.
New legislation, which has been agreed by Cabinet, will prohibit the use of the bikes on public or private land, such as parks, green areas, waste ground and beaches.
However, they can still be used on lands where the landowner has given their permission.
Gardai will be able to seize scramblers and quads where they are used in a location where permission from the landowner has not been received.
They will also be able to emove scramblers from people's homes, once they have a warrant.
