Gardaí Trail Baseball Caps As Part Of Uniform
Gardaí could soon be wearing baseball caps.
They're going to be trialled from this morning in three garda stations in Galway, Cork and Dublin.
From tomorrow, we will begin a pilot of new operational uniform baseball caps in three stations: Ballinasloe Co. Galway, Terenure, Dublin and Bantry, Co. Cork.
The pilot will include two sample caps: a soft baseball cap and a ‘bump stop’ cap.#KeepingPeopleSafe pic.twitter.com/jG7Dcq5Wg9— Garda Info (@gardainfo) December 5, 2023
As part of the pilot, 100 officers will wear a soft baseball cap or a 'bump stop cap' which offers better protection.
They'll then give feedback on how the caps feel and what the public think about them.
Last year, members of the force were issued with new uniforms which included a blue polo shirt to replace the traditonal blue shirt.
Members were also give a two-tome waterproof jacket and operational trousers.
