The Sinn Fein President says today's announcement that he won't face any charges over the abduction and murder of Jean McConville is long overdue.
The North's Public Prosecution service says Gerry Adams - and six other people - won't face any charges.
The widowed mother of ten was taken from her West Belfast home, killed and secretly buried by the IRA in 1972.
Her body was found on a beach in Co Louth in 2003.
In a statement this afternoon Gerry Adams says he supports the PSNI but that in his opinion the timing of his arrest showed there are elements of the police who are against Sinn Fein.
