Grandparents who provide a lot of childcare are more likely to suffer from signs of depression.
A new study from Trinity College in Dublin finds the increase in depression was mostly seen in those who were less educated, and grandparents with higher education and their own social activities were less likely to have symptoms.
The research - in the Irish Independent - looked at the experiences of 7 thousand 500 older people.
It found those providing more than 60 hours of childminding in a month reported significantly more depressive symptoms.
