Almost half of parents say they notice a negative change in their child's behaviour after they use technology describing them as angry, moody, cranky, agitated and argumentative.
That's despite the fact that 72 per cent of parents believe that the purpose of technology for their child is relaxation.
The survey on screen time usage - which was carried out by Early Childhood Ireland - also found that 85 per cent of children under 2 years of age have been exposed to TV or DVDs with 20 per cent of parents saying they feel smart phones make parenting easier.
