Video has emerged of Olympic Council president Pat Hickey saying he wanted to give the THG Group 'first refusal' on handling Irish tickets for Rio 2016.

The video was shot in advance of the London 2012 games, after the OCI had agreed a ticketing arrangement with THG and its parent Marcus Evans Group.

THG was barred from ticketing work at the Rio games by Olympics organisers, after being implicated in allegations of ticket touting during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Brazilian police are investigating the possibility that the OCI's eventual ticket partner Pro10 - which was set up just seven months before being awarded the OCI's ticketing contract - was set up to circumvent this ban.

In the video, recorded to promote the OCI's link with THG and the Marcus Evans Group for 2012 and 2014, Hickey speaks about his wish to extend the deal for further games - the first of which would be Rio:

It has separately emerged that Hickey's case will NOT be heard in court in Brazil today due to a backlog in hearings.

Courts in Rio de Janeiro are only today returning from public holidays and are dealing with a backlog of cases.

As a result the case involving Hickey - who may not himself attend in person anyway - won't be heard.

Separately, three officials from the Olympic Council of Ireland will be questioned by police later today over the handling of Irish Olympic tickets.

CEO Stephen Martin, secretary Kevin Kilty and treasurer Dermot Henihan are due to attend a police station at 6pm Irish time this evening for questioning about the handling of Olympic tickets.

They have not been arrested, and face no charges, but their passports have been seized by police who will hold a press conference afterwards.
