A woman's died in a hillwalking accident in County Kerry.

The woman was with a group of around 30 others when she slipped and fell approximately 30 metres on Stradbally Mountain near Anascaul.

Bad weather hampered efforts by a coastguard helicopter to recover the body.

Kerry Mountain Rescue and Dingle coast guard recovered the woman - who was in her forties - shortly before 7pm.

Her remains have been taken to Tralee General Hospital.
