HSE says up to ten deaths from flu this season

The HSE says nine or ten people have died directly as a result of the flu virus this season.

Last night it was confirmed a child died from the H1N1 strain that was responsible for Swine Flu at a hospital in Dublin this week, after they were transferred from the west of the country.

At risk groups, those with underlying health conditions and pregnant women are being urged to get the flu vaccine.

Dr. Kevin Kelleher is the Assistant National Director for Public Health with the HSE.
