The IMF's warned Ireland that it MUST stick to its plans for a €2 billion austerity budget in October.

After the latest Troika inspection of Ireland's progress, it's also warned the government to keep spending under control this year.

Although the bailout's ended, the Troika are still making regular visits to Ireland to make sure the government is capable of repaying the bailout loans.

Its latest review is broadly positive - but it's warned that the 2 billion euro in adjustments planned for this year's Budget needs to be stuck to.

The clear message is that if there's any leeway to cut taxes in the next two years, it'll have to be made up in extra spending cuts.

The warning comes as the latest Exchequer returns show further signs of an economic recovery.

Tax receipts are 2 per cent higher than expected, led by a surge in corporate tax - while state spending is around 1.2 per cent lower than first expected.
