Irish Celebrity Career Over If Found Guilty - Court Hears
The trial of a well-known Irish celebrity accused of engaging in sexual activity with a 16-year-old girl has heard he will never work again if he's found guilty.
The man has denied the three charges against him, which are alleged to have happened in 2010.
The celebrity, who can’t be named for legal reasons, is accused of engaging in three sexual acts with the girl – twice in his home and once in his workplace.
He was in his 20s at the time, she was 16 and he denies they happened.
In his closing speech the barrister for the celebrity said nothing ever sexual happened between them before her 17th birthday.
He says the celebrity’s life hangs in the balance… that he won’t work again if he’s convicted.
He said it’s the prosecution’s case that the man is a sex offender, that his parents raised a sex offender and he said imagine the enormity of it.
He asked the jurors to look to their conscience and consider the facts and he believes the only result could be ‘not guilty.’
