Is Fine Gael considering a snap election?

Fine Gael has started moving more staff into its party headquarters in Dublin - in what may be seen as the first hint of a general election.

Workers are being taken out of the party's offices in Leinster House and moved into a brand new team that will focus on election planning.

The move comes as the latest polls show Fine Gael would need the support of independents if it's to stay in power.

The Red C poll for the Sunday Business Post shows that irrespective of whoever Fine Gael might go into government with, the support of either a new party or some independent TDs will also be necessary.

However Fine Gael would be set to remain the biggest party in the next Dáil - despite having an equal polling score to Sinn Féin, and despite that rating being its lowest since the disastrous general election of 2002.
