A human rights group say the Islamic State militant group has executed 700 members of a tribe it has been fighting in eastern Syria during the past two weeks.
The Syrian Observatory for Human rights says most of the victims - who were members of the al-Sheitaat tribe - were civilians.
Meanwhile, U.S. officials say fighter jets and drones have carried out nine airstrikes against Islamic State militants near the Iraqi city of Irbil and the Mosul Dam.
They say they were carried out to support humanitarian efforts in the country and protect U.S. personnel and facilities.
Four armoured personnel carriers, seven armed vehicles and an armoured vehicle were among those destroyed or damaged in the attacks.
