Jozef Puska has abandoned his murder conviction appeal.
He’s currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Ashling Murphy in January 2022.
Jozef Puska’s bid to overturn his conviction for murder was originally due to be heard in April, but was delayed after he discharged members of his legal team.
Mr Puska appeared before the Court of Appeal this morning, where his barrister told Judge Isobel Kennedy he had abandoned his conviction appeal.
Senior Counsel John Berry told the court he will be pursuing an appeal of his sentence.
Mr Puska was handed a mandatory life sentence for the murder of 23-year-old Ashling Murphy in Tullamore over four years ago.
The court heard this application will assess if there is any merit in backdating this sentence to reflect the time he had already spent in custody on remand.
The hearing will take place next week.
