A man in his 40s has died following a stabbing in Dublin.

Gardaí were called to a home in the Castle Park area of Tallaght shortly before 9pm on Monday, following a disturbance.

Emergency services treated the victim at the scene, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A 19-year-old man was arrested at the scene. He's being questioned at Tallaght Garda Station.

The man's body remains at the scene on Tuesday morning, which is being preserved pending forensic and technical examination.

A postmortem examination is due to be will be carried out on Tuesday.
