Micheal Martin Elected As Taoiseach
Fianna Fáil leader Micheal Martin has been elected Taoiseach.
It follows a vote in the Dáil earlier this afternoon with Fine Gael leader Simon Harris expected to be appointed as Tánaiste.
Proceedings which were supposed to take place yesterday - but were suspended due to a row over speaking time for government-supporting independents from the opposition benches.
They resumed this morning after discussions among party leaders to address the issue.
Under the agreement of this coalition Micheal Martin will be Taoiseach until 2027 when the role will then transfer to Simon Harris - with an election to be held in or before November 2029
