The Health Minister is welcoming the outcome of today's ballot by the Non Consultant Hospital Doctors members of the Irish Medical Organisation who have voted to accept proposals aimed at reducing their working hours.

In September, around 3,000 non consultant doctors withdrew their services from Irish hospitals in a one day strike to protest over the issue.

NCHD's completed their ballot on proposals earlier today with 76% voting in favour and 24% against.

Meanwhile, Minister Reilly also reiterated his "firm commitment to achieving full compliance” with the European Working Time Directive.
