Gardaí are investigating the death of a man found unconscious in Cork city in the early hours
A murder investigation is underway after the death of a man in Cork.
He was found in a park in the city in the early hours of this morning.
A post-mortem is due to take place today while Gardai have launched a murder investigation following the discovery at a park near the city centre.
Gardaí found the man lying unconscious at the park off Mardyke Walk overnight.
The victim had been badly injured, and a fire was burning near to where he was found.
He was taken to hospital around 1am, but has since died.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who was in the Mardyke Walk area between midnight and 1am this morning to contact them.
They're also keen to speak to any motorist who may have passed through the park and may have dashcam footage.
