The number of millionaires in Ireland is rising.

The percentage of households worth €1 million or more has more than doubled from 5% to 12% since 2013.

The Central Bank data estimates around 223,000 households in Ireland are currently millionaires.

Property prices, higher rates of employment and increases in savings were listed as some of the reasons for the jump.

Analysis of the Central Bank's Distributional Wealth Accounts shows 10% of Irish households account for 54% of household net wealth.
