There's been a broad welcome to today's clarification by the Minister of State Kathleen Lynch that she's not seeking increased contributions from older people towards the cost of their nursing home beds under the Fair Deal scheme.
However the Minister with Responsibility For Older People says she wants the Fair Deal nursing home scheme to be "demand led."
The Minister said the scheme, which funds care for over 22,000 older people, is unsustainable in its current form.
However she said she would not be seeking extra contributions from clients.
Bernie Jameson spoke to Peter Kavanagh, information officer with Active Retirement Ireland and asked him what is the main problem with the scheme at the moment.
