30,000 legends have crossed the finish line of the Vhi Women's Mini Marathon.

A mixture of the music, the dancing in the streets, the sweat and the utter determination pushed people along the 10K route around Dublin's city centre.

Our very own Muireann O’Connell and Kate Brennan Harding got the crowds singing along with the Today FM Mini Maraoke at the start line.

Then runners, walkers and crawlers hit the pavement to take part in the largest all-female event of its kind in the world.

Those taking part decide themselves which charity they will support, with over €217 million raised for more than 700 charities.

Most women who participate are between 25-45 years, the youngest participants are 14 and the oldest are over 70, and every year there are always a few chancers!

There are 16 women who have participated in the Women’s Mini Marathon every single year since it started, including Joan Brady.

Now at the age of 80, Joan wants to keep running until she is 100 and says there is a party atmosphere on the bus when they make their way to Dublin.

β€œ We bring a little present always on our bus, we have a raffle and a draw. We have spot prizes, we play music, we sing and before we know it we are in Dublin.”

β€œIt's wonderful and I love the newcomers because I say you're going to enjoy something that you wish you've been doing for years.”

A massive congratulations to everyone who took part in this year's Vhi Women's Mini-Marathon!
