The average monthly rent has passed the 1000 euro mark for the first time since 2008.
Daft.ie says rents rose by around ten percent last year - and Cork and Galway showed the highest spikes in rent.
Campaigners against homelessness say the new Housing Minister has his work cut out, but that new houses are needed urgently.
