Richard Satchwell Found Guilty Of Murdering His Wife

Richard Satchwell has been found guilty of the murder of Tina Satchwell.

The 58-year-old of Grattan Street, Youghal, county Cork had pleaded NOT guilty to the murder of his wife at the same address in March 2017.

Richard Satchwell sat with his hand under his chin and made no reaction when the verdict of guilty of murder was read out in court six of the Criminal Courts of Justice after 12:25 this afternoon.

The body of 46-year-old Tina Satchwell was discovered under the stairs of the home she shared with her husband in October 2023, six and a half years after her husband reported her missing.

Richard Satchwell told Gardaí his wife died in a struggle after she attacked him with a chisel, after her body was discovered

The jury of seven women and five men returned the verdict after 9 hours and 28 minutes of deliberations.

Mr Justice Paul McDermott set sentencing for the 4th of June next.
