Senior Public Servants To Have Pay Restored To Pre-Recession Levels

Public servants who earn over €150,000 are set to receive pay increases of up to 15 per cent.

Consultants, senior civil servants and judges are among those who'll have their earnings restored to pre-recession levels next month.

The move was signed off by all parties in 2017.

The Government had initially hoped the pay increase for these top earners could be postponed.

However, they were reportedly left with no choice but to proceed with the original date planned of July 1st after receiving legal advice.

Around 4,00 public servants are expected to see increases in their wages from next week, which's expected to result in a strong backlash among the opposition

The restoration of pay for these top earning public servants is expected to cost the state €30 million for this year alone.
