Sports Minister Shane Ross was lambasted on twitter last night after tweeting how honoured he is to be watching Katie Taylor enter the boxing ring several hours after she was knocked out of the Olympics in her first fight.
Shortly after half 8 last night Minister Ross posted 'Go Katie' on social media appearing to suggest her quarter final bout was just about to get underway.

The rest of the nation had been glued to the match which was broadcast live at 3 O'Clock in the afternoon.
Katie Taylor fans did not take kindly to the sports ministers ill timed tweet and he was lambasted on social media for being totally out of step.
