Shane Ross of the Independent Alliance was the first TD to be elected to the 32nd Dáil.
The Independent TD retained his seat in Dublin Rathdown after votes for him exceeded the quota on the second count.
He joined Seán Barrett in Dun Laoghaire who was automatically returned as Ceann Comhairle.
The returning officer in Dublin Rathdown announced his re-election:

This was closely followed by the election of Fianna Fáil's Sean Fleming in Laois:
Meanwhile in Dublin Mid West, two candidates have been deemed elected; Fine Gael's Frances Fitzgerald with 9,028 votes and Sinn Fein's Eoin O'Broin with 9,782:

There was more good news for Fianna Fáil as Barry Cowen, brother of Former Taoiseach Brian Cowen, was elected on the first count in Offaly. He received almost double the number of votes of his nearest rival. Mary Butler has been elected in Waterford and the party's Justice spokesperson Niall Collins has been elected in Limerick County.
Unsurprisingly Micheál Martin and his Finance spokesperson Michael McGrath have both been elected.
Social Democrat co-founder Róisín Shorthall was also elected on the first count in Dublin North West and said she was thrilled:
