Sinn Fein To Table No Confidence Motion Against Government Next Week

Sinn Fein will table a motion of no confidence in the government.

The party confirmed the move after a decision was taken this morning, and will bring the motion before the Dail next week.

They've challenged Independents not to support the current government, which has lost it's technical majority.

Donegal TD Joe McHugh resigned the Fine Gael whip earlier this week after he voted against the mica redress scheme.

While two Green TD's - Neasa Hourigan and Patrick Costello - lost the whip after after voting against the National Maternity Hospital plans.

"We have a responsibility, I would argue, to hold government to account," the party's agriculture spokesperson Matt Carthy said.

He was denying that the motion is a waste of Dail time.

"If you look at all of the parameters on which people need government to act decisively and in way that delivers for them, government have been failing."
