Smoking during pregnancy has been shown to have long term effects on the child, affecting their educational prospects.
New research from the Growing up in Ireland Study finds that 13 percent of mothers smoked all the way through pregnancy.
It also found that wealthier women were more likely to drink during pregnancy.
