Taoiseach 50 Euro Better Off After Dropping Mean Girls Quote In Covid Speech

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has sent Twitter into a spiral after he quoted Lindsay Lohan in his latest speech.

The line "My answer is that the limit does not exist" is a direct reference to Cady Heron's line that comes during a maths quiz in the movie.

It appears to have come after a bet from Sean Astin, who plays Samwise Gamgee in Lord of the Rings, whom Varadkar also quoted in a speech.

Earlier this month the Taoiseach used Astin's line: "In the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out all the clearer."

The American actor bet the Taoiseach fifty euro that he wouldn't have the mettle to pull a quote from the cult classic Mean Girls.

Apparently Varadkar has only seen the movie for the first time this week.

It follows a line of cheeky pop culture references the Dublin TD has squeezed into his speeches.

They include Dermot Kennedy, Marcus Tullius Cicero - (the Roman writer), the Terminator, Seamus Heaney and Winston Churchill.
