Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather, is urging drivers and road users to take extra care as localised flooding is expected.
"It will be a very wet morning, especially the eastern half of the country, with very heavy rainfall and a risk of thunderstorms.
"There is a risk of some torrential, local downpours that could cause some flash flooding.
"There's also, a risk of hail, so visibility can be reduced for periods of time when these thunderstorms hit, and obviously the risk of thunder and lightning".
