The United States launched air and missile strikes with Arab allies in Syria for the first time today, killing dozens of Islamic State fighters, and members of a separate al Qaeda-linked group.
U.S. Central Command said Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates had either participated in, or supported the strikes against Islamic State targets.
50 militants were reported to have been killed, but 8 civilians were also killed in the strikes, including 3 children.
Speculation is mounting about the UK taking part - the British Prime Minister David Cameron has welcomed the strikes, and will hold talks later on "what more the UK can do to contribute."
