U.S. gold medal winning swimmer, Ryan Lochte, and three team mates were robbed at gunpoint on their way to the Olympic Village.

According to the United States Olympic Committee, the taxi they were in was stopped by people posing as armed police officers - who demanded the athletes' money and other personal belongings.

Lochte's mother said the swimmer was unharmed but was shaken by the incident.
