A woman has been killed in a stabbing incident in Cork. The woman's husband has been seriously injured in the same incident at their house on the northside of the city early this morning.
Paramedics were called to the house on Murmont Crescent in Montenotte shortly before 8am.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body remains at the scene as Gardai have requested the services of the State Pathologist’s Office.
The man was rushed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where he is expected to undergo surgery for a number of wounds.

Initial reports suggest the couple who are believed to be in their 60s and 50s may have been injured in a domestic dispute and Gardai have arrested a young man in connection with the incident.
