A woman in her 60s has been killed in a suspected hit-and-run in north Dublin.
It happened on the Phibsborough Road last night.
The woman, who was a pedestrian, was killed by a car which Gardaí say failed to remain at the scene.
It happened at around 9.10 pm on Wednesday night near Cross Guns Bridge in Phibsborough, which is close to the Bald Eagle pub.
The woman was pronounced dead a short time later, and her body has since been removed from the scene.
Image: Aoife Kearns/NewstalkIt's understood the car involved had come to the attention of gardaí shortly before the crash and a referral has been made to the Garda watchdog, GSOC.
The scene remains preserved this morning for a technical examination.
The section road from Cross Guns Bridge to the junction of Phibsborough Road near the shopping Centre will remain closed until mid-afternoon on Thursday, and local diversions are in place.

An incident room has been set up at Mountjoy Garda Station.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
