3 Bayern players consider vaccine u-turn following threat of fines

Three Bayern Munich stars are considering finally getting vaccinated, after the Bundesliga giants came down hard on those opting out.

Five players have had their wages docked and been forced to self-isolate, having come into contact with someone who'd tested positive for COVID-19.

Joshua Kimmich, Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry, Eric Maxim Chuopo-Moting and Michael Cuisance have all effectively been frozen out by Bayern's top brass.

In a move to encourage their players to get vaccinated, the Bavarians have informed players they will not be paid for every day they miss a match or training due to self-isolation having not been vaccinated.

"I am of course aware of my responsibility," Kimmich said last month.

"I follow all hygiene measures and get tested every two to three days. Everyone should make the decision for themselves."

The 26-year old denied being anti-vax, or a COVID-denier, but added, "It's simply that I still have some concerns."

All five players are missing for Bayern's Champions League Group E game away to Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday evening.

But, according to Bild, three of that quintet could return to action sooner than the others.

They claim that Kimmich and Gnabry are considering getting vaccinated. Both had been a close contact of their Bayern and Germany teammate, Niklas Süle. Fringe player Cuisance is the other player on the verge of performing a u-turn.

Bayern themselves are yet to comment on their change in stance.
