Manchester City were the most impressive side on the opening weekend and Manuel Pellegrini's side followed that up with an impressive 3-0 win at home to reigning champions Chelsea. Sergio Aguero scored his 79th Premier League goal and he could have had a few more only for Asmir Begovic. It's not the start Jose Mourinho would have been hoping for and it's only the second time the reigning champions have failed to win either of their first two games. Mourinho also substituted captain John Terry for the first time as Chelsea boss and Blues fans must be concerned with their start to the season. Chelsea looked off the pace in pre-season and they still look a little sluggish at the moment but I expect that to change although giving City a five point headstart isn't ideal. The stand in Chelsea medical team were kept busy much to the delight of the City fans.

Manchester United and Liverpool also have two wins from two but both have been far less impressive than City. However I'm sure that won't bother Louis van Gaal or Brendan Rodgers. United were 1-0 winners away to Aston Villa which was hardly a surprise considering they haven't lost there since 1995, it was probably more of a surprise that Adnan Januzaj got the winner. Wayne Rooney is yet to get going but United fans know that it's only a matter of time before he opens his account for the season.

Christian Benteke got off the mark for Liverpool in their 1-0 win at home to Bournemouth but the goal should never have stood as Philippe Coutinho was in an offside position and made an attempt to play the ball. Benteke clearly loves playing at Anfield - that was his fourth goal in three league appearances there with the previous three coming in an Aston Villa shirt. The Cherries can also feel hard done by with Tommy Elphick penalised for a foul on Dejan Lovren before he headed home. We'll really see what Liverpool are made of next Monday night when they travel to Arsenal and I'd fear for their centre back pairing of Lovren and Martin Skrtel.

Leicester City are the other side to make a 100% start to the new season and not many (including me) predicted things would go so well for Claudio Ranieri. Leicester were the most in form team at the end of last season which saw them avoid relegation and the Foxes are reproducing that form thanks mainly to Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton. Their 2-1 win away to West Ham ended a run of 20 Premier League games without a win in London. What a difference a week makes for Reece Oxford because the 16 year old was taken off at half time at Upton Park just six days after a mature performance at Arsenal.

As for Arsenal they bounced back from that defeat to the Hammers with a 2-1 win away to Crystal Palace and it was clear to see the difference Alexis Sanchez made to the side although Olivier Giroud's volley was the highlight of the game.

Everton won 3-0 away to Southampton which was their first league win at St Mary's in seven. Romelu Lukaku chipped in with a couple of really good goals and for the second week in a row Ross Barkley was on target. Southampton have conceded three goals on the break this season which is already one more than than they did in all of last season. Are they missing a certain Morgan Schneiderlin who has covered more ground than any other Premier League player this season?

Tottenham let a two goal lead slip at home to Stoke so it finished 2-2 at White Hart Lane. Corkman Stephen Ireland was influential for Stoke as a second half substitute and his manager Mark Hughes was quick to praise him after the game.

Newcastle lost 2-0 away to Swansea City who continue to impress under Garry Monk thanks to goals from Bafetimbi Gomis and Andre Ayew - both were also on target in the 2-2 draw at Chelsea.

The only consolation for Newcastle is that Sunderland are by far the worst team in the league so far. The Black Cats lost 3-1 at home to Norwich City and by the looks of things it will be another long season for Sunderland. Dick Advocaat must wish he didn't reconsider his decision to stay with the league's bottom side who have conceded seven goals in two games (to Leicester and Norwich).

And Watford and West Brom's first top flight meeting since 1985 ended scoreless.
