The Sydney Swans have given Tipperary permission to field Colin O'Riordan in next week’s All Ireland semi-final.

David Power’s side are due to play Mayo at Croke Park on Sunday, December 6.

O’Riordan started in the half-forward line in Tipp’s historic Munster final win over Cork last weekend.

Their 0-17 to 0-14 win secured a first Munster football title for the Premier County in 85-years.

O'Riordan had only been cleared to play days before the game with Cork, but things have been sorted with the Swans far quicker this time around.

"He rang me Monday morning and he said he's after getting full clearance," Power told a Tipp media briefing.

"It was a funny comment, the coach out in Sydney Swans said to him, "Are you telling me you're playing, or are you asking?!"

“So, look, he'll be available for Sunday week, yeah. Actually, just talking about Sydney Swans, and I want to say this as well, I just want to thank Sydney Swans for allowing Colin because they didn't have to do this.

“I think to be fair to Sydney Swans I don't think they realised how important the whole thing was until after we actually won on Sunday.

"They've been fantastic and I just want to thank Sydney Swans for everything they've done to date."

Meanwhile, Power says neither he nor his players have an issue reverting back to their traditional blue and gold colours for the semi-final.

To mark the centenary of Bloody Sunday, Tipp wore white and green jerseys in honour of the side that played at Croke Park back in 1920.

Power says it was an "honour and a privilege" to mark the centenary in that manner, but added, "That’s in the history books, no one can take away that Munster final and that we wore that green and white jersey but now we drive on and wear the blue and gold jersey against Mayo.”
