Kolarov, Maksimovic and Milivojevic left out of Serbia squad to face Republic of Ireland

New Serbia coach Dragan Stojkovic has named a new-look squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifier against Ireland.

Inter Milan's Alexander Kolarov, who captained the team for the Euro 2020 qualifiers, is expected to retire after being left out while Manchester United's Nemanja Matic is also hanging up his boots at international level.

There's also no place for Crystal Palace's Luka Milivojevic or Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic but there is a place for Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Ajax attacker Dusan Tadic has been appointed the new captain with Stojkovic confident that they can reach the finals in Qatar.

“I wouldn’t have accepted this job unless I believed we can qualify for the World Cup. Players just need to listen to my message.”

Stephen Kenny's Republic of Ireland kick off their 2022 World Cup qualification group away to Serbia on Wednesday, March 24th. Serbia will also face Portugal and Azerbaijan in the upcoming international window.
