Marcus Rashford nearing return from injury

Marcus Rashford has indicated that he is nearing a return to action.

The 23-year-old has yet to play for Manchester United this season.

He underwent shoulder surgery following the conclusion of England's 2020 campaign.

However, in a tweet on Monday, the attacker appeared to suggest that he'll be back on the field sooner rather than later.

He said: "Happy Monday. I see the doctor on Friday for a consultation.

"All being well, I will get the green light to join in with contact training again."

Rashford later posed another tweet with 'light', suggesting that he will be eased back into training.

There is an upcoming international window, with England scheduled to play two fixtures next month.

First up, United take on Villarreal in the Champions League this Wednesday, before a league meeting with Everton on Saturday.

Then there's a break for an international window, in which Gareth Southgate's side meet Andorra and Hungary.

The most likely date for Rashford's return to competitive action appears to be Manchester United's league meeting with Leicester.

That game is at the KingPower Stadium on October 16th.

Rashford's return to fitness is a welcome boost to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Norweigan's position has come under scrutiny from some quarters following Saturday's league defeat to Aston Villa.

However, United remain just a point off the top of the Premier League table.
