I love the GAA. Is there anything as uplifting as seeing one of your own excel on the big stage? Whether that's Croke Park or a county final the uniqueness of our own native sports is something to behold. Take Bubbles' All Ireland cameos from last years final for example.

In the world of today where in many societies the notion of inclusiveness is now almost frowned upon, the image of Boidu Sayeh celebrating one of the two goals in the Westmeath's 2-8 to 0-12 point victory over Meath in their Eirgrid Leinster Under 21 Football Championship encounter in Mullingar must surely count as an early contender for sports photograph of the year. (Well done Inpho's James Crombie).

GAA Congress takes place this weekend with a raft of motions. The Gaelic Players Association says it won't be backing the motion to introduce a 'Super-8' structure to the All Ireland Senior Football Championship.

The proposal - which will go before congress this weekend - would see the quarter-finals replaced by a round robin series.

GPA members have voted 70/30 against supporting the proposal. There seems to be broad consensus that fixtures need to be tidied up on all sides but coming up with the plan that's agreeable to everyone seems as difficult as ever. The Club Players Association is agitating for official recognition and campaigning for a streamlined programme. Interesting contribution into the mix by Jarlath Burns ahead of the 2017 Congress in Croke Park. The former Armagh star reckons the CPA is 'fighting the wrong enemy' and would be better off 'standing up to county managers and the influence they wield on weak county boards', according to the, chairman of the GAA's Playing Rules Committee. On the sidelines it looks like a load of people trying to negotiate their way through fixture fog and there doesn't seem to be any clear passageway that might secure the 2/3 majority needed that would meet with universal approval. Could Einstein even solve this conundrum? In the words of the Dragons Den gurus, 'for these reasons I'm out'. I'm happy to continue as an observer from the sidelines. Has someone really got a fix all solution? Answers on a postcard please.
