After missing Cuala's All-Ireland club semi final win against Slaughtneil with a broken finger, Paul Schutte feared he was going to miss out on the biggest day in the club's history.
The Cuala and Dublin star had to undergo surgery to replace a broken bone, and when the initial prognosis of 12 weeks on the sidelines was delivered to him, it would have resulted in him watching today's historic win from the Hogan Stand.
However, he made a miraculous recovery to play his part in their 2-19 to 1-10 success at Croke Park this afternoon, as they lifted the Tommy Moore Cup for the very first time.
Afterwards, Schutte spoke to Today FM's Paul Collins, and revealed he took inspiration from Irish rugby international Tommy Bowe, in his bid to make it back in time for today's final.
