Scotland have unveiled their kit for the 2015 Rugby World Cup. West Meath boss Tom Cribbin says there was no Braveheart stuff in their historic win over the Royals, but the Scots are taking a different track. They have embraced Tartan. The traditional pattern is down the sides and under the collar of their navy and white shirts. The shorts are a more standard affair but there will also be kilts.
The Scottish Rugby Union’s Dominic McKay says “The new kit has a distinctly Scottish look and features the Scottish Rugby tartan for the first time, some 25 years since its creation as part of the 1990 Grand Slam celebrations."
“The Scotland national team will continue that tradition this autumn, with the same Scottish Rugby tartan used for the squad’s kilts, which will be worn at official functions during the Rugby World Cup.”
Vern Cotter’s men will play South Africa, Samoa, Japan and the USA in Pool B this year. Scotland finished fourth in the 1991 tournament, but failed to get out of their group 4 years ago.
